Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
- Pick-Up Locations:
- 7:00 AM: Tbilisi (Exact location to be confirmed) – 8-hour drive to Mestia
- 9:00 AM: Kutaisi (Exact location to be confirmed) – 6-hour drive to Mestia
- Check-In: Hotel in Mestia
- Welcome Dinner: Traditional meal in Mestia
Day 2: Mestia to Zhabeshi
- Distance: 16.1 km
- Ascent: 763 m
- Descent: 523 m
Morning departure for your trek. After leaving your main luggage at the hotel, you will meet your local guide and begin your journey. This day’s trail winds through pastures, climbs the forested Chkhuti Ridge, and descends into Mulkhura Valley. The hike ends in Zhabeshi, where you’ll spend the night in a guesthouse.
Day 3: Zhabeshi to Adishi
- Distance: 10.6 km
- Ascent: 909 m
- Descent: 527 m
A steep morning climb toward Tetnuldi Resort, followed by a scenic walk through alpine pastures to the hidden village of Adishi in the Adischala Valley. Overnight in Adishi guesthouse.
Day 4: Adishi to Khalde
- Distance: 16 km
- Ascent: 860 m
- Descent: 900 m
Today, trek towards Adishi Glacier, crossing the Adischala River with the help of a horse. Then, ascend to Chkhunderi Pass (2600 m) and descend into Khaldechala Valley. Night at the Khalde guesthouse.
Day 5: Khalde to Ushguli
- Distance: 14.5 km
- Ascent: 1070 m
- Descent: 1118 m
Split into two groups for today’s trek. - Option 1: Take on the challenging route crossing the Khaldechala River and climbing Lagem Pass, offering panoramic views of Mt. Shkhara, the highest mountain in Georgia.
- Option 2: Follow the classic route along the Enguri River for a more relaxed day. Both groups will reunite in Ushguli for an exploration of the village and dinner at a cozy local guesthouse.
Day 6: Ushguli Exploration & Svaneti Range
- Distance: 9 km
- Ascent/Descent: 810 m
After breakfast, enjoy a hike to one of Ushguli’s scenic viewpoints. Popular options include the Gorvashi Pass or Chubedishi Viewpoint. You’ll take in the sweeping vistas of the Greater Caucasus.
Alternatively, you can choose to relax or participate in optional activities like a horse trek to Shkhara Glacier or Zagar Pass. Return to Mestia in the afternoon, with free time followed by dinner.
Day 7: Explore Mestia
Take the Mestia cable car up to Zuruldi Ridge for breathtaking views, followed by lunch at the summit. Spend the rest of the afternoon at your leisure before our final celebratory dinner.
Day 8: Departure
Transfer back to Tbilisi or Kutaisi. Departure from Mestia at 7:00 AM.

Trek Difficulty
This trek is of moderate difficulty, perfect for hikers accustomed to 6-7 hours of walking per day with significant elevation changes. The basic Mestia-Ushguli route is manageable, but the alternative scenic routes offer more challenge. A reasonable fitness level and experience with steep terrain are recommended. Good hiking shoes are a must.
Packing Suggestions
You’ll need minimal gear since guesthouses provide food and bedding. Pack light, with essential items for day hikes (food, water, personal valuables, extra socks/layers, rain protection). Don’t forget warm clothing, as mountain evenings can be chilly. You can leave extra luggage at the hotel and retrieve it after the trek.
